The word "lie" appears among the folds of a bed sheet. In the context of the bed, "lie" could mean telling a lie, lying in bed, or both. Thus the bed, a symbol for the innocence of sleep and the sacredness of marriage, becomes the site of dishonesty and perhaps infidelity.
